Adaptive automation

Typically, operators interact with present day industrial machinery by means of a touchscreen, acknowledged as a human-equipment interface (HMI). ‘We proposed to adjust the behaviour of the equipment and the HMI according to the situation of the worker,’ Villani clarifies.

The new HMI produced in the undertaking was trialled at a few companies: Silverline, a Turkish manufacturer of kitchen area appliances SCM Team, an Italian manufacturer of woodworking machines and Elettric80, an Italian manufacturer of automated guided automobiles for use in warehouses.

The HMI comprises a few modules. The initial assesses the abilities and requirements of person personnel.
