A substantial EU-funded task has demonstrated how huge knowledge and artificial intelligence could rework Europe’s transport sector, slicing costs and gasoline intake on road, rail, air and sea although boosting operational efficiency and increasing purchaser knowledge.

These solutions were trialled in thirteen huge-scale pilot schemes for smart highways, railway routine maintenance, port logistics, airport turnaround, urban mobility, auto connectivity and e-commerce logistics.

Awareness in action

Data arrived from operational efficiency metrics, purchaser feedback, arrival and departure times, freight shipping data, waiting around times at transport hubs, road targeted traffic data, weather conditions knowledge, traveller routines and routine maintenance downtime data amongst many others.

‘TT was knowledge in action,’ claims Castiñeira. ‘We deployed the pilots in an operational environment. We made use of serious-time and reside knowledge in most of the pilots. We concerned serious end-users, so we were conversing to all the transport authorities, railway operators, and so on.’
